SINGING KITES PROJECTS
We are working with the villagers in Tanop, a rural farming community situated 75 klms from the capital city of Phnom Penh.
Life is a day to day struggle for these families. Education is a luxury most cannot afford. The standard of living is very poor......... with no running water, electricity, sanitation or proximity to medical facilities. Many families have traded their land, their livelihood.............. to pay for medical attention, or to feed their family members.
When you visit Tanop you realise just how easy it would be for people to give up hope. Hope of a future, hope for any sort of quality of life.
It is imperative we show these villagers that we care. We are against hand outs, as that action erodes pride and dignity. But it is important to walk beside these people and give a helping hand wherever it is needed.
Without education, there is no hope of a future. No chance of escaping the extreme levels of poverty that engulf them. Our developed world has sufficiency in most things, and it is easy for us to find compassion and make a contribution to others less fortunate. Anything we can do, how ever small a contribution it might be, can make a wealth of difference to people who have NOTHING.
My friends and I are determined to be there for Tanop. With support, we can give the next generation ........ who are Cambodia's future ........ hope and a new life ...........through education.
